Experience
I earned my undergraduate degree from Washington State University in Spanish language and cultures and my graduate degree in education. Upon completion of my degrees I received teaching certification for Spanish Language Education in grades eight through twelve. Since that time I have taught Spanish to high school students in Seattle. I've found my career in teaching to be very rewarding and I leverage my teaching experience in a classroom when working as a tutor. I've found this hands-on experience to be especially valuable for those students who struggle with the conflicting grammar rules in Spanish. In addition to tutoring Spanish 1-4 I also tutor students in English grammar and syntax, AP Spanish language and culture, English, and conversational Spanish. I also have a fondness for working with ESL students, who are also working to master a new language. One of the most valuable lessons I have learned by working with numerous students is how patient one must be when learning a new language. I work diligently to ensure each student fully understands each individual component of their language studies before moving on to the next lesson. All languages build incrementally and failing to create this firm foundation can lead to considerable confusion later.
